Druthers has no account, no server of mine, and no analytics. I do not collect, receive, store, sell or share your personal information, because there is nowhere for it to go.

What stays on your phone
Everything the app knows about you, it keeps on the device: the shows you subscribe to, your queue, your play positions, which shows you've favourited, your listening history and the statistics drawn from it, and any episodes you've downloaded.
Your listening history is used for two things — putting your queue in a sensible order, and showing you your own statistics. It is not sent anywhere.
The network requests the app makes
An app that plays podcasts has to fetch podcasts. There are three kinds of request, they go to other people's servers rather than mine, and none of them carries an identifier the app made up for you.
1. Podcast feeds, audio and artwork
When the app refreshes a show, downloads an episode or loads cover art, it requests those files directly from whoever hosts that podcast. As with any request to any website, that host can see your IP address and roughly when you asked. Which shows you subscribe to is therefore visible to the people hosting those shows — that is inherent to podcasting, not specific to this app, and it is the same whether you use this app or any other.
2. Podcast search
Searching for a show to subscribe to sends what you typed to Apple's iTunes Search API. Apple's handling of that request is covered by Apple's privacy policy, not mine. Nothing else in the app sends your search terms anywhere, and if you add shows by URL or by importing an OPML file, no search request is made at all.
3. Crash reports
If — and only if — you have turned on Share With App Developers in iOS Settings, Apple may send me crash reports. That is an iOS feature, not something the app does: there is no analytics SDK in Druthers, and no reporting code of my own. What arrives is aggregated diagnostic data about crashes, and it does not identify you or say anything about what you listen to.
What the app does not do
- No account, no sign-in, no email address collected.
- No analytics, telemetry, or usage tracking of any kind.
- No advertising, and no ad or attribution SDKs.
- No third-party trackers. The app has no third-party dependencies.
- Nothing is sold or shared, because nothing is collected.
Backups you make yourself
The app can export a backup of your subscriptions, queue and listening history to a file. That file is yours: it is written wherever you choose to put it, and it is never uploaded anywhere by the app. If you save it to iCloud Drive or send it somewhere, it is covered by whatever handles it then.
Children
Druthers is not directed at children, and since it collects no personal information at all, it collects none from children either.
Changes
If the app ever starts doing something this page doesn't describe, this page changes first and the date at the top changes with it. The commitment I care about keeping is the simple one: not to become a steward of your data.
